I just wanted to say that Mr. H will always be in my heart. I will miss him.

John was instrumental to my moving to NH in 1974. A move i have never regretted and thank him for it. Working with him at the City Library was a joy. He was always encouraging and took life in stride. I am sorry for his family's loss. A good man gone.

I had the pleasure of knowing John as a resident at Villa Crest. What an amazing man - with such knowledge of so many things!
I always enjoyed our daily conversations - What a witty man!

On behalf of the Manchester City Library staff I wish to express our condolences to John's family. His many years of service to the library were greatly appreciated by all who knew him. He was always willing to help and answer library history questions for those who joined the library after his retirement. Our deepest sympathy.

On behalf of the Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA), I extend deep condolences to the Hallahan family on the passing of their beloved John. A passionate chess player, John had been a MACA member for many yaars and competed in scores of tournaments in the Bay State in the past 30+ years. Besides playing in hundreds of events in the Granite State - the last of which was the Queen City Open in February 2007 - John participated in many U.S. Opens held across the country. He will be sorely missed by the hundreds of chess players who knew him. May he rest in peace.
